September 2025 Update
Hello and welcome to our monthly update.
It’s getting close now to our Sodbury Vale MRC Open Day event. We have created the programme leaflet for the day, which can be found on our website on the 2025 Open Day page (follow the link to go there directly).
It should be a great day showcasing a selection of layouts, demonstrations and other modelling tips.
Once this event has been completed, we will focus all of our attention on the club’s 2026 Exhibition in March 2026 at the Concorde Hanger at Aerospace Bristol. We have created the leaflet for this, which can be found on our Facebook page and also in the 2026 Exhibition page on our website.
We really hope that you are able to attend both events.

August 2025 Update
Welcome to our club’s August update.
Our October 2025 Open Day planning is progressing nicely. A list of demonstrators, layouts, societies, traders, preservation societies and charity representatives attending the event has been published on the Open Day page, just follow the link to go there. This should be a fun interactive day with plenty of demonstrations to appreciate and several layouts that you can control yourselves. We are very pleased to have our friends from the Water Aid Charity there too, so please come along and say hello. Advance tickets for this event are on sale now. The link and QR code (for those techies amongst us) and an old fashioned link for this is available on the open day web page.
Our 2026 SVMRC exhibition at Aerospace Bristol’s Concorde hanger is in full planning swing. It seems this event has caused quite a stir amongst the model railway community. People seem very excited that there is an independent show catering for people in North Bristol. Of course, the venue adds so much in terms of the wider transportation theme as well as our focus on the railway world. It’s going to be a great show. Tickets will be available from Aerospace Bristol in advance at a discounted price. We will let you all know when.
All of this activity and still we have time (just about) for the completion of our newest layout Hagbourne road. This 4mm/OO gauge layout depicting a Great Western branch line is having signalling completed. The layout’s page has been updated with a few pictures, follow this link to see them. We will be taking a full set of photos soon and maybe a video, which will be updated on the page when we are able. If you are interested to see this layout, then it is being displayed at the Thornbury and S Gloucestershire MRC exhibition on November 22nd/23rd.

July 2025 Update
It’s been a while since the last update, but that’s not to say it’s been a quiet month. Firstly, to celebrate our 50th anniversary, we have decided to change our club logo and colours. You can see the new logo above. We have ordered some new polo shirts and fleeces in our new colours of Royal Blue. So when you next see any of us on the exhibition circuit, you’ll be able to see us in our new kit.
We are pleased to announce that advance tickets are now available for our 5th October 2025 Open Day. These can be found by following this link or if you prefer you can use the following QR code.

The list of attendees as it currently stands will be updated for this event on the 2025 open day web page shortly.
Planning is still moving along for our March 2026 Annual Exhibition at Aerospace Bristol under the wings of Concorde. Tickets for this event will be sold through Aerospace Bristol’s website in due course. More details will be available once all the negotiations have been finalised.
All details for both events will be updated on the corresponding pages in the exhibitions section.
Several of our club and club member layouts have been inspected ready for display at exhibitions over the next few weeks, so take a look at the exhibition page to see who is attending which event and pop over and say hello on the day.
More updates to follow, so make sure you bookmark our web site and regularly check for any updates.
